Ponce is celebrating that the natural reserve of Caja de Muerto Island, has reopened a 400 meter  submarine trail for
all visitants and local tourists. This BlueFlag will offer an unforgettable experience to all snorkeling fans. The trail offer 25

station stops including the Dolphin Statue where you will admire from Carey, Stingrays, Lion Fish, Sea Stars and many
more.

                                                       Important Facts of the Caja de Muerto Submarine Trail

  • Caja de Muerto Island- This natural reserve is located 5 miles south of Ponce  and  offers a great time at the
    beach, hiking up to the Lighthouse. Caja de Muerto Submarine Trail

  • This trail has a resting area for the swimmers

  • We recommend that every swimmer should use a life vest or any otherfloating device due to the depth of the
    area that goes from 4 to 14 feet.

  • Please, do not touch the corrals or step on them

  • Only 25 people can enjoy the trail per trip with the guide

  • This natural reserve is a certified Blue Flag Beach that is based on compliancewith 32 criteria covering the
    aspects of  Environmental Education and Information, Water Quality, Environmental Management and              
    Safety and Services.

  • Caja de Muerto  is the only Blue Flag beach in the Caribbean and on a natural reserve.

  • Ponce Art Museum - this is one of Ponce’s top attractions to enjoy fine art, sculptures and exhibitions of
          great artists from around the world.

  • Cruceta del Vigía- this watchtower was the look out point used to inform that enemy ships were arriving to the
    city.

  • Casa Armstrong- Poventud: located in front of the Guadalupe Cathedral, shows and example of the
    neoclassical architecture of the island. Recently restored.

  • Museo de la Masacre de Ponce – this museum guards the events that occurred on March 21, 1937, when a  
    group of Nationalists without the permit to do their political demonstration,  match into the city when a shot was
    fired and a gun battle emerged between the demonstrators and the police leaving a twenty people were killed
    and hundreds injured.

  • Casa Paoli- this house is an investigation center of puertorrican culture, located at Mayor street in Ponce. This
    museum exhibits the story on this singer's life and has a souvenir shop with pictorial artworks.

  • Catedral de la Guadalupe- this emblematic church was built in 1883 and stands in the center of the Plaza
    Degetau and is surrounded by the Lions fountains, the city hall and the Parque de Bombas.

  • Teatro La Perla- located at Mayor St. this is Ponce’s main house of fine arts.

  • La Ceiba Tree- this passive park shelters a 400 year old tree.

  • Tibes Ceremonial Indian Park- located in Tibes, this ancient Indian park has seven bateyes or Indian ball park
    with carved stones or petroglyphs that dates from A.D. 700, bohios or Indian huts. This park also has a museum,
    an exhibition hall that presents a documentary of the pre-colombinian culture.

  • Hacienda Buena Vista- this iconic house presents the coffee elaboration in full expression with a walk through
    inside the coffee processing area allow you to enjoy an unique insight of the Puerto Rican history.

  • Castillo Serallés- this museum shows the history of the sugar cane, the rum elaboration and the Serallés family.

  • La Guancha- This boardwalk is one of Ponce touristic spots to walk and eat great seafood platters or just relax
    with the soft breeze next to the ocean.

  • Museo de Historia de Ponce- this museum displays documentation of Ponce’s history.

  • Museo de la Musica- This museum of Puerto Rican Music is dedicated to preserve the traditions of Puerto  Rican
    music.

  • Museo Pacho Coimbre- this is Ponce’s sport Hall of Fame.

  • Parque de Bombas- Located at Plaza Degetau this structure is the most remarkable Ponce’s landmark.

  • Ponce School of Arts- This school used to be the Spanish military headquarters known as El Castillo that later
    became the Ponce Jail.
